Sources within the tablet industry are indicating that we will see Windows 8 Tablets and more hitting retail shelves this November. "The schedule is tight. Looking at what Windows is trying to achieve not only with a new OS, but a new OS that needs to run four to five architectures -- three ARM, Intel, and AMD," said the source. Apparently, they won't just be tablets either. The source indicated that "More than 50 percent" of the "more than a dozen" designs will be hybrid designs, similar to the Asus Transformer or PadFone devices. Supposedly, all these new devices ill use Intel's "Clover Trail" Atom chip, which is Intel's first dual-core Atom design using its 32-nanometer process technology. Exciting stuff!

The former chairman at Nokia, Jorma Ollila, still sees a bright future for the company. According to statements he made just as he was leaving the Finnish company, Nokia may be working on some new Windows based tablets and hybrid phones. Here's a quote with some additional details,
According to Ollila, the Finnish company is getting ready to introduce a series of new devices that could turn its fortunes around. Reportedly, Nokia is currently “looking into” tablets”, because they “are important.” So maybe we’ll see that rumored 10 inch Windows 8 Nokia tablet later this year.
Tablets aside, Nokia’s chairman also declared that “there will be different hybrids, different form factors in the future.” This could mean anything… or nothing. But knowing how Nokia is experimenting with form factors (remember the Morph concept?), we hope we’ll something really new in the future.
As for where Nokia is standing now, Jorma Ollila says he is “happy with what is happening. When you have such strong competitors in the marketplace it will take a bit of time but things are going well.”
Despite Nokia's poor results in this last financial quarter, maybe some of these new and fresh ideas could turn things around for them.

While the Barnes & Noble Nook Tablet has struggling to compete with the Amazon Kindle Fire in the tablet market, it looks like B&N is not putting all their eggs in one basket for the tablet market. Apparently, there are some industry rumors that the book retailer may be working with Microsoft on a new Nook-like Windows 8 Tablet. The window of opportunity for this market is in college e-textbooks, apparently, and it is a market that Amazon has not seemed that interested in pursuing, whereas B&N already has a strong foothold in that market with over 135 different college textbook stores.

This could potentially be really good news for Windows 8 and tablet lovers everywhere. Apparently, according to industry sources, a huge swath of manufacturers, from HP, Dell, Lenovo, Acer, Asus, Toshiba and more will be bringing out as many as 32 new Windows 8 tablets throughout this year. These sources further indicate that there will be a large range of pricing for these tablets from $300 all the way to $1000 bucks. This news supposedly comes from the OEM supply chain and is based upon the amount of orders they have received for tablet parts. The first Windows 8 tablets are expected to hit retail shelves in October of 2012.
